A Saudi Arabia group posted on Twitter an image implying that if Canada didn’t stop criticizing the Middle East Kingdom’s human rights record, they would engineer a 9/11 style attack on Canada by hijacking an Air Canada plane and crashing it into Canada’s iconic CN Tower in the city of Toronto.
The pro Saudi Arabia group, Infographic_KSA has since apologised and deleted the tweet but only after it went viral and screen shots had already been grabbed. Also, the Infographic_KSA Twitter account was also deactivated after a number of complaints on social media. The image, which showed an Air Canada plane aimed at Toronto’s skyline, attracted criticism soon after it was posted. Some saw the image as a veiled reference to the 9/11 attacks on the US, in which 2,996 people were killed after 19 hijackers flew airliners into the World Trade Center’s twin towers and the Pentagon. Fifteen of the hijackers were Saudi nationals.
